RCHA 2011 Clubs & More

RCHA in 2011 - £10m Cover and more...

The RCHA has been working to ensure that in 2011 we are able to deliver what the clubs especially wanted just as much as the members. To finally give the radio controlled modellers of the UK an opportunity to support more directly a body more in tune with the modellers needs and with a clear vision for growth, development and community spirit.

In 2011 members will be covered up to £10m for Public Liability, an extra £5m more than in 2010. Clubs will have the opportunity to become fully affiliated members of RCHA and as such secure their own public liability and employers liability cover.

Clubs will also get some key features:-

  • Free Webhosting under the RCHA domain*
  • Free design service to assist with leaflets, adverts and regional marketing
  • Placed into the RCHA / Google mapping system giving potential new members very quick and visually effective access, to find their nearest clubs without having to go through lists and lists
  • To help where possible in site planning and liaising with landlords or councils.
  • Sign posting to possible area’s for support on funding for site developments
  • Access to our online facility to enable clubs to have their members signup online and secure instant cover via e-mail and downloadable.

The RCHA is recognised by both the CAA and Ofcom and we have enlisted the assistance of a flying school to re-look at the achievement scheme for the RCHA.

For those clubs interested in taking part in a potential new era in the modelling fraternity then please complete the following form and we will get back to you with more info asap.

Also an interesting e-mail from our partners to help explain the differences between "Claims Made" and ours which is "Claims Occuring"

Claims Made Policies – e.g. BMFA Policy

As the name indicates, Claims Made Policies provide coverage for claims made in the period the policy is in force. Claims made policies provide coverage only so long as the insured continues to pay premiums for the initial policy and any subsequent renewals. Once premiums stop the coverage stops for any claims not known or made to the insurance company during the coverage period.

What this means to the club and member is that there is a risk of an unknown or unreported claim being made long after the policy period and not being covered because the claim was made outside of the coverage period. With a Claims Made policy you must be insured by a current policy today in order to be covered for incidents that occurred in the past. As soon as you stop buying the cover, it’s as if you never had any. This is very unhelpful and can potentially expose members when they cease being a member of a club or retire from flying activity.

Occurrence Coverage – e.g. RCHA Policy

Occurrence coverage is, in my opinion the better option for clubs and their members.

Occurrence coverage is insurance that provides coverage for the act when it occurs - regardless of when it is reported. If you had coverage under an occurrence policy in 2007 and the claim is reported today (someone who tripped over your tool box back in 2007 has just decided to sue you, for example) then the claim is covered.

This is much better for clubs and members as there is always cover for any incidents that occurred in the past.
